An orphan, I grew-up on a ranch in Marfa, Texas and worked my way through Sol Ross University on a rodeo scholarship. During the Vietnam War, I served as a F-4 Phantom Jet maintenance crewman. After sailing around the world as a seaman on a merchant ship, I worked as a roughneck in the Texas oilfields and as a Colorado Rocky Mountain climbing guide. I became a cab driver so I could learn more about people and the things that they do. My blog tells about the interesting people I have met and the lessons I have learned from them.
